Salambo, Flaubert’in; Kartacalı kumandan Hannibal’ın Roma ile mücadelesini anlattığı ve özellikle cümle yapısı ile Marcel Proust’a öncülük ettiği kabul edilen eseridir. Ayrıntılar konusunda dakik bir realizm Salambo romanında ayan beyan ortadadır. Sonuç? Flaubert dilin kendisini çok küçük detaylara indirdiği için parçalanamaz fakat bizatihi paramparça bir bütün kurmuştur. Salambo’nun elinizdeki bu harikulade Türkçesi de akış ve parçalı bütünün fevkalade başarılıbir tercümesidir.
